Default Way to fast sell to dye, materials merchant?

Hi.

Some days ago i read a coment of some user that told that he was doing running services for a long time and just realized that if you press R the character autoruns.

Appart for being somewhat funny, it made me think about my horrible way to sell dyes and materails to merchants. A dummy click orgy of:

What's the price?/Sell
What's the price?/Sell
What's the price?/Sell
What's the price?/Sell
...

So, thinking that maybe i'm also missing something... is this really the only way to sell those things? there's no hot key to check price and sell at least? if i have 250 stell i must really click 500 times to sell it to the merchant?

I've never bothered to check, but does the Merchant give the same price for a full stack as the Materials Trader would?

I rarely sell materials to the Material Trader as I'm a bit of a hoarder so I either use them or stick them in storage.

The material trader usually gives a better price per 10 items than the merchant. Excepting common items such as wood and bone.

The available trading methods to AI traders or players is archaic and slow many have posted on the subject to no avail.

Doubt it will change now but I guess we can always hope.

if the same methods survive to GW2 I shall scream loud and long

I hope that I understood correctly the fact that a material/dye trader considers buying and selling prices based on the amount of items he/she has in stock (and this amount is somewhere on ANet's servers). Then, I guess you can only sell/buy in small amounts and not in bulk because the game needs to check every time the amount of items in stock and adjust the prices accordingly. So for example (and this is just my assumption, please feel free to correct me), if you happen hypothetically to have 500 black dyes and you suddenly decide to sell them to a dye trader, you would slowly start filling the market and the merchant will start offering you lower prices every time you do a price check on him. The last item you would sell to him/her could end up having a sale price as half on the sell price of the first item you offered. Now, I assume that if ANet really wanted, they could've made it possible for you to get a quotation for the first item you offer, and also at the same time a quotation with the medium price he/she would offer if you would sell the whole amount of 500 units, but I guess they preferred to go with the simpler solution that is in effect today.

This is correct, the price can drop between quotes. Since the price is also affected by everyone else who is selling to the trader, sometimes it can drop quite rapidly. For example, on some special weekend when large numbers of people are farming the same areas and getting the same kinds of drops, there can be a glut at the trader. Sometimes you will only be able to sell one or two items at the first quoted price before it drops. Other times you can sell 50 or more at that price before there's a drop.

I've been wondering, how much iron would I have to sell to the trader to make it worth about as much as wood? I have about 3000 on me now, would more be necessary?

Interesting question ... I can only think of one way to test it without losing 3000 iron:

1) Sell 3000 iron (that includes 600 mouse clicks ...)
2) Post new iron price on guru
3) Hack into Anet's servers, mess with the database so that they are forced to do a rollback to the time before you sold 3000 iron
4) ???
5) profit.

But tbh, I don't think that 3000 iron would make much difference in price ... and even if the price would fall, people would buy iron like crazy until iron has its old price.

Clear answer: you're using the only method that is available. There is no way to sell to the dye trader or rare mat trader except by selling one unit at a time. There is no way to sell to the common mat trader except in lots of 10 units. Sadly, there is no secret like pressing the "R" key for making bulk sales.

I don't think the OP was necessarily asking if there was a way to sell in bulk so much as asking if there was a hot key for "request quote" and "sell." Sadly, none that I know of. I don't mind asking for a quote at each sale, but agree that having to move the mouse back and forth to click manually is a pain.

Correct, i was really searching for some "hot keys" to fast the process, like:

check price = C
Sell = S

Instead of the click & click process.

Unfortunately, all dialogs in GW that require or allow a response require the use of a mouse to click a button. There are no keyboard shortcuts for any of them, even a simple "OK" button, unlike other programs. I find this a little frustrating myself, since I prefer playing using the keyboard.

The following tip might be obvious, but I'll just put it in here anyway: If you're an European in American districts, you should switch to European districts or your guild hall first because the NPC interactions will likely have less lag.
